Very large company, difficult to get in without starting on the ground level.

I have been working at State Farm full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a company that puts core values and integrity before all else. After 90 years in operation, it is still focused on one key aspect: being their for the customer, like a good neighbor.

    Cons

it is going through a process of re-organization so a lot of employees may have to move around to keep their job, but once its organizational actions are complete, business operations will be much more coherent and be able to interact with other departments more efficiently,

    Advice to Management

it seems as if, at least in the claims department, there are too many managerial groups. This can lead to the micro-managing of employees beyond what is necessary and healthy for a productive environment.

I have been working at State Farm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Stability - Lots of opportunity to move around (you can have multiple careers with one company) - Diverse - Mutual company (not a stock company) - Corporate is located in an area with a low cost of living

    Cons

    - Change is slow due to large size - Hard to feel like you have true ownership of anything due to size - Projects take a long time to implement - Corporate location is not ideal but very family friendly

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to implement such massive projects - seems primarily due to a continuous increase in scope. Start small, implement early, iterate.
