I have been working at State Farm as a contractor (more than an year)

Pros

Cutting edge technology, good management. Some old legacy systems like any big Co. Good opportunity to advance, not 100% discriminatory against white males like many large Co's. Fair and competent mgt. for the most part.

Cons

Well, it is headquartered in Bloomington, IL which could be a plus for some or not a plus for others. IL as a state is going bankrupt but SF is dealing with that (mostly by not increasing jobs in IL lol!).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mgt. seems to be doing a good job. Branching out to the hubs (ATL, TX, AZ) seems like a good idea.

I worked at State Farm full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Friendly and up to date work atmosphere, nice building and area.

    Cons

The company is moving many of its jobs to other states and they are not actively hiring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think the management should build better relationship with its employees, including external associates such as myself who were temporary hires.

I have been working at State Farm full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

good job for first 10 yrs

    Cons

deceiving and incompetent management, hidden force outs of older employees with high pay grades, chaotic reorganization semi-annually, worthless human resource dept, communicates remarkable service yet is understaffed at front lines across the board, very questionable handling of overtime law.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are so far out of touch with the people who make this company function it is pathetic. Staffing models are archaic and not any where close to what is needed to meet your "remarkable service quest". Do you have any idea the low moral of your workforce - the very same people who meet the public daily?
    Go back to school.
