I worked at State Street full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Provided the opportunity to move around and work in different areas which broadened the knowledge of how the company operates.
Work-life balance scheduling was great.
Volunteer program was very respectable.

Cons

Once in the company, merit increases were fairly small. Only way to get bigger pay is to go outside and then move back.
Promotions are based on a "queue" system instead of just good old "he/she deserves a promotion and will get it".

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company has forever changed. The elimination of jobs, great workers with extensive knowledge, and moving a majority of these functions overseas for lower wages shows you really don't care about keeping valuable employees.

    Pros

Good place to learn and move up as a new graduate is establishing his or her career. IF you work hard and are diligent many opportunities will present themselves.

    Cons

Can get stuck in same role unless pro active.

    Pros

Work in SS can be very flexible because of the flex program. You get to customize your own working schedule as long as you have made enough hours weekly.

    Cons

Works can be overwhelmed sometimes because of the high turnover rate. You will need to pick up things really fast without much help provided.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should listen up more from the lower level employees so that they can improve better on the tasks arrangement. Some people in the department get away with tough task because they know how to shine the boss's shoes and pretend he's working extremely hard etc..
