I have been working at State Street full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Benefits are great, lots of vacation days, offices are nice, flexible hours depending on the group

Cons

Depending on the group you may have to wait years for a promotion, countless jobs have been outsourced to India, a lot of the higher up work/responsibilities continue to trickle down to lower associates to cut higher paying positions, pay is on the lower end of the spectrum for the same/similar financial service jobs in Boston

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Motivate your employees, give them some kind of model for how to get promoted and at least a general timeframe... 6 months? 2 years? We need to know these things.

I have been working at State Street full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some nice, qualified people. Made some great friends here. Location is right on public transportation.

    Cons

Lots of not so nice, not so qualified people.

Huge egos, zero concept of teamwork, always waiting for the other shoe to drop. My experience is with IT, but word of mouth says it's everywhere.

"Transformation" - really? How many of the purported transformations have failed? Answer - all of them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The emperors have no clothes. However, unfortunately, the market is liking SST right now. That'll give the management the false sense that things are good. Things are NOT good if the employees are unhappy. As the employment market changes, you will lose your best , and your next best, employees.
