Stressful and going in a downward spiral...don't be fooled!

I worked at State of Louisiana

Pros

Some of the people were friendly; there are some morale boosters (blue jean days and potluck meals are as good as that gets); paid holidays

Cons

Poor pay; elimination of merit increases so what you get paid now is what you can expect in the future; high employee turnover leading to vacant positions that will very rarely be filled; benefits weren't great; no paid overtime; unrealistic expectations given the increasing workload

Advice to ManagementAdvice

speak to your employees respectfully; listen to their concerns; acknowledge something other than what's done incorrectly; look into moving to a new facility (the building is old, moldy, and depressing)

I worked at State of Louisiana

    Pros

If you keep your mouth shut and put in your hours, you can get a steady paycheck.

    Cons

All management --in the agency where I worked---very incompetent, not focused, cannot communicate, many times not even available for days. The taxpayers deserve much better. All of the employees in the agency where I worked were very disappointed in the management. It is as if the management is arrogant and will not think for themselves about managing the agency. Management is very lazy and rejects new ideas and suggestions. Management does not want to improve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your minds and pay attention to your good employees. Be receptive to suggestions. Do not simply get one side of any story. Find out the truth and communicate that truth to the appropriate persons so that you can help to advance the State of Louisiana rather than "bow" to someone just to keep your job. Determine how to advance the State rather than listen to people who are reticent regarding change for the better.

Great job but the pay could be a little higher.

I worked at State of Louisiana

    Pros

    Laid back work environment.
    Super friendly co workers.

    Cons

Pace of work in projects is a little slow for me.
Seems like projects keep getting stretched to last longer than they should.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more opportunities for growth and training.
