I have been working at State of Michigan

    Pros

Working for the State of Michigan offers an opportunity to help others while still making a living, and balancing family responsibilities. There are high expectations, but most supervisors are flexible, depending on the circumstances.

    Cons

There is not a lot of opportunity for growth and career development unless you are willing to move to Lansing or Wayne County. Once you are in a job in a rural county, you are pretty much stuck there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should continue with allowing flexibility to employees, such as modified work schedules, while keeping expectations high. Remember there are a lot of gems in our staff.
