I have been working at State of Nevada full-time (more than a year)

Pros

The work-life balance of this position is great, and management is available to help resolve issues and answer questions. The state still has a public employee pension.

Cons

Decreases in base pay, furloughs and higher insurance costs as a result of the economic decline. At this time, there is no sign that things concerning salary will improve anytime soon.

I have been working at State of Nevada full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Easiest police work there is. Interesting cases, and slow pace environment that is good for family life.

    Cons

Slow work, older co-workers, and little room for advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about the morale and other issues that are causing people to leave instead of ignoring the problem.

    Pros

If you're an investigations junkie like me, you'll be in heaven!
    High morale
    VERY supportive co-workers and supervisors
Opportunities to excel, learn new aspects of the job, and hone your skills

    Cons

    Strict work hours
Budgetary constraints = you don't always have the right tools for the job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees aren't just worker-bees, we possess a wealth of diverse knowledge and--believe it or not--we really do know what we're talking about when we offer suggestions for program improvement, etc.
