    Pros

My job sounds great on paper - I get to work in an art museum in a city bathed in sunshine most of the year. You can retire young IF you can handle waiting 25 years. You have job security for life, especially if you make a campaign contribution.

    Cons

Very low employee morale. Personnel decisions made on politics rather than what's best for the organization. Compensation does not cover cost of living in Santa Fe. Raises are unheard of. There's been a lot of turnover in the 2.5 years I've been here. Governor Martinez thinks she's better than everyone and therefore only she can be trusted to make even the smallest decisions. She has created a toxic work culture of suspicion and mutual hatred. Too many coworkers who don't do the job they are supposed to and therefore nothing ever gets done. The higher up in the organization a person is the more inept s/he is. There is a serious lack of leadership.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff. Better yet, stop micromanaging them! Don't hire people to do one thing and get surprised when they resent being asked to do everything but what they were hired for. Employees need to be compensated for OUTPUT, not input.
