I have been working at State of Utah part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great experience on fire. Good people in high places. The two guys that run the place are good people and great to work with when you get the chance.

    Cons

lower management no good. This is hard to get by because you spend months together out on fires. I did two seasons with 3 different crew bosses. Did not have one crew boss who was good to work for. We had lots of experience on different fires but it was hard with difficult crew bosses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at State of Utah full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees of the State of Utah receive great health benefits and a 401k with great matching offerings. The locations of the offices in Salt Lake are great and provide parking in the downtown area that are available after hours.

    Cons

Terrible pay, extremely slow and few advancement opportunities. Much like advancement, it takes forever for people that deserve to be fired to be let go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out from under the shell and make the necessary waves to motivate and reward your workforce.
