I worked at State of Washington full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very meaningful work, helping state employees access quality affordable health care, helping health care providers receive fair reimbursement without unnecessary aggravation, and helping taxpayers by managing state employee health costs very successfully and saving hundreds of millions of dollars.

    Cons

It is fashionable for those in leadership positions to claim to be "data driven" but in reality there is very little interest in or understanding of the use of data to identify and solve problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use data correctly to identify and prioritize problems and develop innovative solutions. Don't come up with a plan first, and then request data to support your plan -- sorry, but that's backwards.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
