I worked at Statoil full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Extreme work-life balance, good perks for everyone regardless of performance, very flexible leadership, paid overtime, 5 weeks of holiday, flexible work hours.

    Cons

The company is only good for Norwegians. Foreigners will stay low in the organization regardless how smart they are and hard they work. How long you have been around will determine who is promoted. Lack of decisive decision making. Powerless leaders. The company makes people lazy as working more/harder does not get you anywhere. No performance-based culture. No true commitment to personal and professional development. Extreme bureaucratic organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the right leadership profiles, promote more international in key positions to become a true global company with a multicultural mindset, stop giving to those who do not work/deliver, build a true performance based culture, lay-off lazy employees, streamline your governance.

Good company to work for if you are true Norwegian, wrong place to be if you are an international employee

I have been working at Statoil full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

good work/life balance. The company is the right choise for those who are looking for relaxed and stable employment. Good company for housewives and not ambitious people. It is nearly impossible to get fired, unless you come drunk to your work.

    Cons

No professional growth, guaranteed, unless you are Norwegian or a good friend of someone. Most of employees are just waiting to retire and doing minimum tasks. The company is promoting equal rights, hence a lot of women at all layers of organization and most of them just not capable for their job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of a lot of useless people, among you as well
