The associates in the stores are like families.

There are too many corporate visits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate visitors should appreciate the hard work and knowledge of the store management and their associates.

I love my job but am overworked because we are too short staffed.

    Current Employee - Merchandising Lead
    Current Employee - Merchandising Lead

    Pros

Great company. Jay Stein is a wonderful man who really cares about the people who work for him. It's easy to love my job because I love the merchandise and for the most part we have great customers who tell us how much they love the store. Also, 25% discount with occasional special employee discount days of 35%.

    Cons

Salary is typically low for a retail position. It's frustrating to try and keep my department the way I want it when there are not enough people to do everything. Wish I had more training and guidance, and asked several times for a job description and never got one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We can't get everything done if there are not enough people to do it. I am disappointed to have to lower my merchandising standards to get my job done.
