I have been working at Sterling Bancshares

Pros

The benefit package is pretty good. I think I have good health insurance. I have had some flexibilty with my schedule in the past.

Cons

The Senior Management is disconnected from the main employees. They only care about looking good on papaer. The opportunity to advance feels like an illusion.

I have been working at Sterling Bancshares

    Pros

This job is good for people who are interested in commercial banking, specifically small business banking. The job gives you excellent exposure to a variety of commercial credit. You typically work fairly close with senior management, and senior management learns your name very quickly.

    Cons

This job requires a lot of stroking of egos for certain lenders. Your opinion is sometimes overlooked. Direct management is inexperienced, at this point in time the manager has lost all control due to lack of respect from the pool. Mood in the pool has shifted dramatically over the past 12 months. Everyone is currently looking for a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to management is to re-evaluate how this position is expected to service the lender and the bank as a whole. It is consensus in the pool that there is no direction.
