Pros

Stifel is a growing company with a stable history. Despite recent growth, it still has the feel of a small company. Help or answers are usually only a phone call away. Another plus, they did not get caught up in exotic investment instruments. That decision has put this little firm on much better footing than their larger rivals.

Cons

The massive expansion over the last couple years has left some of the sattelite offices out of touch with HQ processes. If you don't know who to call with questions, your search can be hit or miss. Duplication of work is a big risk.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

A little more definition to the corporate structure wouldn't hurt.

I have been working at Stifel Financial full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Competitive base salaries and commission payout ( If you are producing, you get paid hard commission unlike most Bulge Bracket where base pay is similar but you end up with a donut due to poor overall performance )

    Smart colleagues

Ok benefits ( no employer pension scheme in the UK yet but decent health and medical )

Growing ( a lot of interesting acquisitions that makes you feel that you are part of a growing bank that is going somewhere )

Company is doing well which inspires pride in employees

    Cons

Can be a bit flat ( i.e promotions are hard to come by )

No annual salary increase ( although, you get paid hard commission so most likely, base pay isn't that relevant )

Not as big of a deal flow as other banks ( although this is improving )

Some weak benefits ( pension ) but are getting better

Integration of acquisitions sometimes takes time, try incorporating new colleagues with old ones to create familiarity across departments ( and colleagues ) and try gathering under one roof ( which seems to be the plan ).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you doing, business is doing well and we are starting to make a name for ourselves internationally.

Try focussing on integration more and faster and keep up the good work.
