Pros

Great people (excluding management)
Great work/life balance
Minimal interference from above

Cons

Terrible compensation package (far below industry average)
Poor benefits
Worst technology of any company I've worked
Ego-driven CEO that makes senseless value destroying acquisitions
Must be "in" with management to move forward
Cheap to the point where quality is sacrificed
Management does not invest anything in its people

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put the ego aside and focus on your shareholders
Invest in your people
Get better technology
Increase compensation

I have been working at Stifel Financial

    Pros

Great culture for a mid sized broker dealer. Wonderful people to work with on a daily basis. The advisors in the field are great and have built many relationships that I would hate to leave. Fast growing company that has avoided all the pitfalls of other firms.
    Not overly micro managed.
    Very entrepreneurial.
14 consecutive years of RECORD revenue. Awesome!!!

    Cons

Compensation for home office personnel needs to be fixed now rather than later, because when the economy starts to turn and competitors start to hire, I'm afraid some very talented people may leave.

Home office departments are too siloed. No communication. Has lead to unnecessary spending on software, etc.

Due to the large growth of the company, many areas are significantly understaffed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget about the little people who keep the company running and are an integral part of the advisors business.
Need to get all middle management on the same page. It would save thousands of dollars.

    Approves of CEO
