Continuous Budget Problems , Cronyism, & Bullying

Teacher (Former Employee) Stonington, CT

ProsThe Stonington Public Schools is very serious about student achievement and providing the best education for their students. Test scores are consistently higher than both the CT and national averages.

ConsThe budget is often, almost every year shot down in referendum thus creating an avenue for teachers to loose their positions despite tenure or performance. The practice of handing out pink slips and while shopping for lower paid teachers is alive and well. If a teacher is not liked by one of the local teachers (even SEA members and officers) other method are used to drive the teacher from the job. Teachers leave due to job security issues, harassment, and retaliation.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep paying your lawyers and insurance because one of these days you will need both.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
