I have been working at Stony Brook University

Pros

Good Benefits, professional challenges, freedom for innovation and creativity. Because the university is relatively new, there is fast paced growth and a variety of opportunities. The research conducted here is of high quality and there is a renewed interest in undergraduate education.

Cons

Low pay scale, bad budget times create difficulties in completing basic tasks-- never mind innovation.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate better across departments. Many departments work in isolation making collaboration and knowledge sharing across the campus quite difficult.

I worked at Stony Brook University

    Pros

Great staff, collaborative environment that allows for researchers from all different disiciplines to come together and discuss ongoing research at a high level.

    Cons

It is tough for students to feel valued here i feel, since a lot of the state funding is put towards research programs instead of student oriented projects. There are some prestigious programs for high school students.
