My experience at Street was atypical and probably can't be compared to anyone else's.

Pros

Good salary, benefits and potential bonuses. Good team atmosphere nationwide. Work hard/play hard philosophy.

Cons

Demanding, high stress, requires a great deal of diplomacy and problem solving, time management and rapid analysis. Not necessarily cons, but important things to note when considering a position there.

    Pros

Good starting salary, and good co-workers. The manager at the time, Ted, was great.

    Cons

    - An understaffed office with high, unmanageable, workload and very high staff turnover. Someone once called this company an "underwriter grinder" due to the very high burnout rate.
    - Regular threats of firing staff.
    - A promise of high bonus', but never paid on time, if ever.
    - 12-18 hour days, as another review noted, with little reward, ie: overtime paid or time off in lieu.
    - The "HR Department" was a one person show, who was severely overworked.
    - No growth opportunities, this is a flat organization.

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff better. You may have good volumes/revenue stream now, but the reputation as an employer is going to hurt in the long term. There's lots of underwriting jobs out there right now (late 2014).

    Pros

-great pay and better than the industry
    -good bonus structure

    Cons

-they work you to the bone they expect you to live at street capital from morning till night very agrressive sales and deals targets, be prepared to work 14-18 hrs every day, no work life balance, unorganized and unefficient

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, create work life balances happy employees mean better work culture and improve your system of underwriting and have better organization. Treat people like humans instead of machines.
