Stryker – “Stryker POV from the bottom of the food chain.”

Disagree with this statement in regards to "good ole boy network". I've been at Stryker for over ten years and have never seen a company more focused on performance. If you do not perform at Stryker to their aggressive level you will not move up and you will not survive here. Stryker is a very numbers based company, if you want to move up, you have to produce.

Maybe a poor choice of words, but in my region, there is some truth behind the nepotism claim. I'm also in a position that has no metrics to judge performance and for the most part, I have been isolated from contact with management. The specialist position, in my opinion, casts you as a pariah and keeps you from advancing anywhere but the tech services division, but you are told that it in an entry level path to sales. I simply have not seen this to be true at all. Marketing Associates tend to be the choice of managers for sales roles with specialists very rarely considered until last resort. Technically, we do the same job as Endoscopic Sales Associates, just without daily travel from account to account. I feel like I gave an accurate description from my point of view - the very bottom! I certainly see greener pastures just a step or two above me and I think I would love working for Stryker if I was in those positions. But I'm not and I feel unfairly kept from obtaining them despite sucking it up and "paying my dues" as I was told. But if you are in sales, I envy you and can see why you are content with your job. I would be too.
