I have been working at StubHub full-time

    Pros

If you aren't in technology, you'll have a much different experience and will probably enjoy your job and your coworkers. The office is well located near mass-transit, and the office was remodeled a few years ago.

There are a number of great restaurants in the area, if you're willing to walk more than a block from the office.

    Cons

Technology is a horrible mess, and it's not getting better. The company would do well to can most of the technology team, and all of the technology leadership. I've never experienced a less professional management team. They lead by example... unfortunately the example is how not to lead and manage a team of technologists. If you want to be micromanaged, berated, and threatened, StubHub technology is the place for you. If you want to be respected, listened to, and wish to contribute to the end goal - don't walk away, run away.

Warning, Director level and above isn't promoted from within, it's hired from outside. Mostly crony transfers from eBay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at your internal feedback scores. If yours are low, do everyone a favor and fire yourself. You know who you are.

I have been working at StubHub full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Business idea is good, serving fans, working in the sports and entertainment space.

    Cons

In general, hardly anyone in a leadership role knows how to lead- way too many middle managers, first of all, and they don't have any power anyway to push good ideas forth or help fight battles worth fighting.

There are cat fights, politics get in the way, managers in the marketing and product departments bash other departments way too openly. It's unprofessional and disgusting. Super toxic environment especially in the marketing department.

If everyone got along and people knew how to take and USE criticism, it'd be a better place to work. StubHub, for as long as it's been around, is extremely immature in the way it's running its organization. I think the Legal and Customer Service departments seem to be the only ones with a mature process and plan to see through growing pains.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people who have leadership and management experience instead of being desperate to "fill a position", hold them accountable via training that happens every quarter.
