Pros

Extreme bright, dedicated, passionate, highly professional team. Very flat structure and high autonomy. Great challenges, high mobility, amazing communication. Great people; extreme talented, still very humble & friendly, kind and supportive workmates working on clean and very well organized code. People are truly taking pride in their work. State of art automatization & workflow. Absolutely professional attitude at all levels.

I have been working at StumbleUpon full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Free food
    Location
Working on a product people use or have used

    Cons

    The management is incredibly disorganized
They don't have a clear vision and it'll change weekly. Every member of the exec team has trouble making decisions so things will go "undecided" for weeks.

There is a lot of politics at StumbleUpon too. I've known not so talented people get promoted because they were well liked by one member of the exec team and disliked by everyone else.

Read the reviews not just here but rent press on techcrunch, etc... The company laid off 50% of its workforce. It sucks to be o e of the remaining people still there.

A large amount of tech debt to slows progress
A large level of employee "debt"
Some team members are not enjoyable to work with
    Overly laid back culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on employee the right team who believe in the vision. Don't give into the traditional Valley pressure to higher anyone. The culture can be too lax and not enough focus on metrics
