Pros

Lots of competent staff, at every level, devoted to patient care.
Diverse employee and patient population.
Flexible schedule.
Accessible and supportive program coordinator.
Friendly environment.

Cons

Parking- clinical staff assigned to off campus lots while middle managers park on site.
Concerns shared with upper management slow to be addressed or resolved.
Little employee recognition from management.

Advice to Management

Patient experience at the hospital is influenced by perception of the quality of care provided. All it takes is one indifferent employee to cancel out the best efforts of the team.

    Pros

Nice working in the Rehabilitative Medicine Department, along with the other allied health professionals, OT, PT, Speech Language Pathology. Interesting work with outpatients and inpatients, including hearing monitoring of ototoxic drugs, coma patients, and interoperative monitoring.

    Cons

Salary and lack of advancement opportunities.

    Advice to Management

When I was providing interoperative monitoring, I would sometimes arrive at 6 a.m., before my regularly scheduled time, and leave after my regularly scheduled time. Was not paid overtime. Also, interoperative monitoring is a high-level service, and I was the only one in the hospital who was able to do it, although was paid my regular salary. Interoperative monitoring should be compensated differently than regular audiology services.

  2. Good small community hospital

    Pros

It is a private hospital that has now joined Johns Hopkins Medicine and has many partnerships with the hospitals surrounding it. The small atmosphere allows employees to get to know each other and have a sense of family.

    Cons

The hospital does not involve their nurses in decision making processes. There is also very little compensation for education.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest to involve the nurses in the decision making process, add more incentives for education advancement, and to learn what it is like to work on the floor.
