Pros

HA! I suppose the opportunity to receive a 1.5% Annual Bonus?

Cons

Most everything. For an HR Software company, they IRONICALLY care very little about their Human Resources. They allow for lateral, but not upward movement throughout the company. Compensation is lowest in the industry. Their business model is to recruit new engineers and support staff right out of college to guarantee "Entry-Level" pay, which the do not increase unless inflation increases. They do NOT actually give you the "10% Annual Bonus" you are promised as part of your compensation package, and instead blame it on the poor health of the company (as if over $100million dollar profits are not enough to share). They only recognize live customer facing employees (such as the sales guys and the Executives) and never recognize the rest of the support staff that makes their efforts possible. FALSE ADVERTISING. They do not follow their own slogan of "Talent is Boundless", as stated above where moving up throughout the company is nearly impossible. They pride themselves on not allocating raises bc "you are not doing your job well enough", which they never communicate to you until your annual review. Very poor management tactics. Obviously, they care more about keeping costs low than helping employees grow and develop with the company.

Advice to Management

Learn to Communicate! No reason for all the secrets if we are all "On the same Team"

Tell me if this is what you are looking for: * Employer that will lie to you about ay raises, professional growth and WORK life balance * A company that mandates 50% of their revenue comes from India because profit margins can be insanely high, but US workers need to clean up the mess * A company the believes work life balance is 235% WORK LIFE and -150% non work like (yes that was a minus sign) * A company who will continually ask you for "just a little extra effort" and give you a whopping 1.5% - 3% annual increase if you do a great job * A company that will refuse to pay separated employees their ACCRUED VACATION time, just because they can (This has happened to multiple people I know) * A company that can not deliver on what is sold because 75% of their products do not work * A VENTURE CAPITAL company that owns a software company * A company that requires you to sign a non compete for 3 years after you separate that limits you from working in the same industry... YES THEY WILL STALK YOU AND SUE YOU... Look at the public records * A company that does not understand their own slogan "HUMANS AREN'T CAPITAL".... * A company that keeps bringing in failing leadership * A company that is not growing when are competitors are BOOMING If this is what you are looking for then come join me in the hell that is SumTotal Systems

    Cons

We can not find our identity here at SumTotal Systems. We were a bunch of successful software companies that were acquired by a VC firm.... We are a pot luck of technology with no identity. We are trying to make SAAS products integrate with ENTERPRISE platforms.. FAIL We are so stuck in out own processes and closed minded views that we are won worst enemy. Upper management lies on a regular basis. They do not deliver on the promises that are made.. they as us in middle management to lie to our customers and our employees. I think at this point the believe their own lies which is why they can speak to them with such passion! When you read the rest of the reviews you need to be able to sort through the FLUFF. Here is a way to look at them. The people that are giving good reviews of this company fall into one of a few categories: * New employee to SumTotal (They do not know better... YET) * Recent college grad - First Job ( They have nothing to compare ...) * Upper Management (Enough Said) * Marketing (Do I need to say anything here?) The people that are giving the realistic reviews: * Workers that are dealing with products / customers * Workers that have been with the company for more than 3 years * ME

    Advice to Management

FOLLOW THROUGH WITH WHAT YOU SAY.... If you can not deliver on what you promise, then do not promise it. Treat your employees like part of a team and a valued member of the organization instead of treating like the servants that are here to maintain for ivory tower for you. Bring in some new blood to your team to break up that incestual environment that you live in, you know who you are.

    Pros

Open to new creative solutions, Management is pleasant to work with and respects employees opinion, I have become a much better programmer from working here

    Cons

Compensation/Benefits are pretty low compared to similar positions in other companies (granted, Gainesville FL has a low cost-of-living). Time difference when working with India teams can be grueling

    Advice to Management

I'm fond of those in lower level management and wish I had a better opportunity to provide feedback, and give them recognition
