Pros

Cross collaboration, contrarian views, work/life balance are some of the main reasons to work at Sun. Colleagues are also quite collegial and you rarely see the cutthroat culture that you see at other companies.

Cons

Work from home privileges can lead to some people that abuse the system. This needs to be balanced out a bit.. Also, some of the collaboration technologies are a bit ancient. Marketing needs to be given a bit more importance - right now, Sun is a very Engineering focused company.

Advice to Senior Management

Need to focus on a few core areas rather than be the jack of all trades. With the imminent completion of the Oracle acquisition, hopefully this will be the case.
