I have been working at Sun Microsystems

Pros

Work from home 100% of the time
40 hour work week
limited management engagement
few nights, weekends, or early mornings

Cons

low stock price for years
low morale
too many employees in certain areas
need fresh blood in top management soon

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not much to say anymore. It would have been nice to reposition company as tech leader with high sales and stock price to match.

    I worked at Sun Microsystems

    Pros

Good benefits. Flexible work environment. Very supportive first level management. There are also some very interesting technologies and the opportunity to improve your functional skills through development opportunities.

    Cons

There was a constant change in upper management. The lack of consistency meant that employees felt like they were doing their job against the strategy of the day. It was sometimes difficult to believe in your product, since it could be de-prioritized at any time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The integration with Oracle should happen as soon as possible. Hopefully the new management team will drive a consistent strategy and get the new offerings off the ground as quickly as possible.
