I worked at SunAmerica Affordable Housing Partners full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Great people, laid back environment, easy going managers, great view of the ocean from the 36th floor, decent pay, good benefits, lots of free reign to get job done as needed - no micromanagement

Cons

Communication could be stilted between departments. Typical political and office gossip from time to time. Very little room to advance.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was there before the AIG fallout and the 'original' Affordable Housing executive staff all left. My understanding is that the culture, dynamic, and purpose of the department have all since changed. Don't know if its better or worse, but I would hope that if there is a problem, it would be quickly noticed and fixed. It would be a real disappointment to see it go south.

I have been working at SunAmerica Affordable Housing Partners

    Pros

health insurance and other benefits are great some of the best. pretty much anything is covered.

pay scale wasn't too bad (if you got hired before AIG went bankrupt)

salaried employees get unlimited sick days

    Cons

    everyone is comotose

the resistance to communicating is taken to a whole new level, people will get down right mad if you insist on it. this is the root of issues with unhappy employees here. no one is being told how they are doing. everyone is in the dark about most everything and it breed anger.

this is a division of AIG which is enormously political in every way. prepare for lots of corporate red tape.

supervisors are promoted as managers based to technical skills, even if they are social inept with no idea how to manage actual people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

take your head out of your asses and promote communication. decision making in general is the pits. get talented peopl in who can recognize other talent
