I have been working at SunGard full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Great technical company, with many service offerings, and eager to jump into new markets.

Cons

Compensation structure, mainly within bonuses, could be better. Salaries are very competitive and good overall.

Advice to Management

A lot more can be done to improve retention throughout the organization. Many folks have recently left due to different reasons. It would improve morale overall if there was a sense of stability throughout the organization.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

For many, SunGard was a start up that grew up and matured, so being a part of that was just incredibly rewarding and gave many an opportunity to flourish in an controlled entrepreneurial environment.

    Cons

At a macro level, the pros also became challenges and as the Company matured the entrenched management struggled to keep up and adapt. At a micro level, the single largest deficiency is in the area of formal employee training/career development..

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the silos and introduce substantive training/career development, especially management training. The best developer, sales person, customer service rep or accountant does not necessarily make the best manager.
