I worked at Suncor as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

-Real world experience: In the field working on reals systems, rather than making drawings in an office
-Gain perspective: gets you out of the school mode and helps you to understand how others think to make your work make more people happy
-Stretches you: I was given reign of full projects, start to finish. I had contractors working for me as a student! How cool is that?
-Management really promotes the student program

    Cons

Yeah, the place is old and grimy, the standards are a nightmare to wade through and there's a million miles of red tape to do anything. Welcome to the world of heavy industry, where innovation is heavily scrutinized because people die when things go wrong :)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to promote the student program!
