Pros

Satisfaction in helping the residents is about all the pros at this company
Too many chiefs and not enough indians!

Cons

Management at the communities that possess little people skills.
Under qualified people in positions they have no business being in.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to listen to their hotline calls to hear the complaints from families and employees and act accordingly!

    Pros

Strong culture of providing the best for the residents

    Cons

*Finding someone in a leadership position that is qualified or capable of making smart strategic decisions is hard to come by (hence the current position of the company).
*Individuals that are capable of moving the company forward often leave for better positions at competing assisted living companies or left as a result of the multiple lay-offs. Leaving those individuals who are under qualified or uneducated to move up in the ranks.
*Many of the processes and policies are antiquated or overcomplicated in nature making it unnecessarily difficult to complete day-to-day tasks.
*Every organization has some amount of politics going on within in the office, but the politics and game playing going on at Sunrise seem to be worst then most. Probably a result of the multiple lay-offs and the "every man for himself" attitude you must posses to get by.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As individuals are moving up in the organization do a better job assessing their ability to successfully take on the roles they are being placed into. Keep your ear to the floor when it comes to the game playing and politics, its running ramped.

I have been working at Sunrise Senior Living

    Pros

Sunrise cares about its residents and their quality of life. Also, the food was wonderful and you could interact with the residents like friends.

    Cons

Often, the care given is much more than "assisted living." Some residents are completely incapacitated and require much more attention than reasonable. Also the pay was very low compared to most other nursing home jobs of similar function.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest increasing the salary of the workers just a bit. As this center is self-pay and the residents are mostly wealthy, a small increase in salary will result in better workers and more reliable service.
