A good job for in-between job folks

Pros

Can move up quickly, however, the perks to do so are not enticing.
 A decent employee discount, though not as good as competitor retailers.

Cons

Poor leadership and team building. Lack of communication between managers and associate. Abusive assistant manger who is "me only." As a result a sense of chaos and low morale prevails.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to cultivate a positive work culture. Could be a wonderful place to work - but promoting those who lead by fear is not leading -It's bullying. You will lose your best employees. Head in the sand management never works and sends a negative message to everyone. It will erode your store and eventually the whole corporate culture. Take time to congratulate employees on a job well done and when they have achieved an incentive or bonus.
Help them (which will help you) to reap positive benefits and ultimately your annual goals.

    It;s smoke and mirrors. The store looks amazing, but the workers are underpaid and are not given enough hours.

    Pros

    Nice atmosphere, the store looks very elegant, making you want to buy things, but are way overpriced in this economy.

    Cons

    There were not enough hours provided for work by the company. The shifts were short which made it difficult to get into a good work groove. Store manager was not very flexible in scheduling and hours were very inconsistent every week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to the employess and not just look at the numbers all day and worry about what percentage the store is doing! And how many people walk through the door and how many dollars they are spending! Your workers are not robots!

    Great part time gig, if you like being disrespected treated like a teenager, limited growth potential.

    Pros

    Interacting and sharing cooking knowledge with customers. Discount was good

    Cons

    Lack of consistant work schedule, condescending abysmal management, no creative display thought, MUST BE FROM VISUAL BOOK!!! Very corporate micro-managed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Think about treating your employees as well as you treat customers, a little trust goes a long way. Lay off all the junk you are packing the store with, allow each store/city to have some personality.
