Too much information for so little pay

Pros

Great benefits package, somewhat flexible scheduling, feedback available, management is willing to work with you, opportunities to advance quickly, employee appreciation lunches

Cons

high stress job. you are doing the work of 10 customer service reps and certainly not compensated for it. for example, you are a customer service rep so you must answer phone calls about trivial things, such as bank balances, but you also have to know how to calculate escrow and the minutae of interest rates, etc. And when people call you, they're mean because they're upset about something to do with their money. Also, the dresscode is business professional even though you are in a basement and no one sees you.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Separate the "customer service rep" into different jobs. A rep for mortgages, a rep for loans, a rep for accounts, etc.

    Pros

    Susquehanna allows for a nice family and work life balance. Until recently there was no micromanagement. The people who work there tend to be nice and ethical.

    Cons

    Training minimal. Bank not competitive with products. Technology outdated. Methodologies for growth not practical. Marketing could use work. Constant change of tactics for growth. Call nights harrassing current customers repeatedly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need a solid long term business plan for bank. Need to focus on lending being approved and growth of long term relationships.

    Pros

    Nice flexiblity for college student, great hours, good pay. My branch was a lot of fun and this is by far the more important thing to consider

    Cons

    Upper level management lacks leadership abilities. Thus, getting promoted out of college was impossible. Most of the branch manager's are great but beyond that it gets ugly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fire most of your upper level managers, and stop trying to by every bank possible it only causes more problems.
