Low pay, corporate environment, good workers NOT rewarded

I have been working at Sutter Health

    Pros

Great coworkers, excellent health benefits, free parking, excellent healthcare. Good location.

    Cons

Low pay - DEFINITELY not competitive with the Bay Area. When I tried to negotiate salary, HR said "Well we're not Stanford or UCSF". Little employee recognition. Sutter enjoys making strict rules and reminding you that you will be disciplined or fired if you don't follow the rules.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To the CEO, executives, and Human Resources - remember you are running a healthcare system. Stop trying to run it like corporate America where you promote low pay and overwork your healthcare professionals. Also recognize your employees in a positive way instead of reminders of those who have been disciplined or fired - that's a good way to encourage the good employees to leave.
