Pros

They actively encourage team work and solutions. Support to teams is top down and people are most often the valued assets.

Cons

Not always open to tele-commuting. HR is not as responsive to information.

Advice to Management

Take time to fully review employees who are productively working at a maximum.

    Pros

    work life balance, good location along 101, good cafeteria.

    Cons

    - Highly political climate. The restructuring was touted as a management simplification drive, however the majority of people let go are Individual Contributors. The re-org is strange as now you have Senior Managers reporting to another Senior Manager. Once again the management has won by keeping itself safe. How do you expect SYMC 4.0 to take off with the same management in charge of the company?

    Advice to Management

    - layoff the people from Management - Directors and Senior Managers.
    - If you really want to achieve a flat organization, everyone should report to a Director level person. The Senior Manager/Manager roles should be abolished when it comes to direct reports. This will give a level playing field to all employees.
    - Introduce a culture where the Senior executives - VP, etc. meet with the team on a one on one basis regularly.
