    Pros

On the whole, a largely positive professional experience. This organization had more appreciation for the techical writing job function than most other software organizations.

    Cons

As with any other software development organization, the hours could be long and unpredictable. Sometimes senior management was out of touch.

    Advice to Management

As a stock holder, I would like to see you take action to move the needle on the stock price. Consider implementing a dividend.

    Pros

Internationally recognized company with an excellent brand reputation. Compensation package very fair. Benefits are among the best. Willingness to promote from within. Encourage career development through change in responsibilities.

    Cons

Constantly changing. Numerous acquisitions keep Symantec in constant flux. Most affected is product integration and marketing. Current economy has forced downsizing with many positions over-burdened with transitioned responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

Keep focused on the key objectives of the company. Know when to stop doing things that do not contribute to these goals. Stay compassionate to any morale issues that may rise from the changing staffing climate.
