I have been working at Symantec full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent compensation, job security, work/life balance, fair individual contributor ladder.

    Cons

Worst office politics I've I seen in my 15 year career in Silicon Valley. It seems that only the people who have nowhere else to go are staying. It's only fair that I count myself among these; what keeps me in is primarily compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Symantec full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good work life balance. Supportive management. Generous in providing lab equipment for both home and offices. Friendly, hard working people.

    Cons

Low pay for talented sales engineers. These people are critical to the success of the account executives, yet they don't receive bonuses commensurate with their impact on the sales. They are often overlooked and just expected to "produce".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be great at a few things, not ordinary in a lot of things. The company is not focused on solutions that deliver value. Customers are replacing them and given the recent firing of the CEO, it looks like it is not getting any better. They need to decide if they are a storage company or a security company; being both is not working out.
