Current Employee – been working at Symantec

Pros – Leader in nearly every category in which it competes. Excellent benefits. Very smart people. Good people who are respectful. Less politics in Marketing than in other major high-tech companies. High emphasis on continued training of employees.

Cons – Salaries not as high as I think they should be. Management is a bit too distant from front-line employees. Lack of strategic direction, more of a shotgun approach.

Advice to Senior Management – Spend more time with front-line employees. Show greater appreciation of their hard work. Talk more about the strategy of acquisitions and how they fit in the overall picture to make the company more competitive. Do a better job at acquisition integration. Reduce complexity. Simplify!!!
