Pros

Synacor is a good place to work. We have lots of small perks, and we get to work on lots of cool projects that are seen by a lot of people.

Cons

Sometimes we have to work overnight at syncs, or long hours to complete a project on time. Raises aren't always the greatest.

Advice to Management

Management could be more open about the direction Synacor is headed as a whole. Sometimes projects get canceled or started without fully thinking them through.

    Pros

Great work environment, dynamic/young atmosphere, lots of diversity. Great healthcare coverage and flexibility with time off if needed. Everyone is relatively open to new experiences and challenges.

    Cons

No career path, salary is abysmal, leadership is constantly changing, processes and procedures never remain constant which makes doing our jobs exceptionally difficult and inefficient. Getting resources to work on some projects is like pulling teeth.

    Advice to Management

Make a plan and stick to it. You are constantly trying to throw new solutions at us to create a more efficient work environment, but too much change all at once is causing confusion and frustration. We have enough going on as it is. Slow down and stop trying to change everything at once!

    Pros

Most people are generally nice and will help you out. It's a job in a location the doesn't have a lot of tech jobs. They have a game dungeon with a playstation (that no one seems to play).

    Cons

Raises are minimal. Compensation is sub-standard. There is a lot of turnover in upper management which creates ever-changing strategies. When new upper management comes in they always have great ideas to help out employees but these soon go by the wayside and are never implemented. Opportunity for career advancement is slim unless you are incompetent, in which case you will quickly get promoted to prevent you from doing any actual (bad) work. Innovation is non-existent. Everything they do is already done better by someone else. Some people who have been around for a long time don't want to help out the new comers. Maybe they're worried about job security.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier for your employees to do a better job. They want to be the best but you won't let them be. Do some weeding of middle management. Get rid of people who contribute nothing and just take up space.
