Great company and staff; compensation not competitive with the rest of the industry

Pros

Great company, great exposure to exciting technology, great team, wonderful scientific approach, ability to be hands-on in several areas, wonderful experience.

Cons

They offer you exposure to high level processes and the ability to move into a title quickly, however the downside to that approach is a payscale that is not on par with market competitiors. I receied a $40k raise simply by switching companies.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay will need to get more competitive to retain talent.

    Pros

The medical insurance plan is OK

    Cons

I heard that the company reduces sick time from 10 days to 5 days next year (2013). That equals to a pay cut.
The trun-over rate is high. People come and go. Nobody cares. I am glad I have left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For the long term growth, you should keep the talent.

    Pros

    Hours were flexible
    Health insurance was good
    401k was ok
Started out well during initial employment
Lots of great people who offered beneficial connections

    Cons

Internal frustration due to lack of organization for specific job duties and a flurry of people who were either bombarded with too many duties to complete their position successfully or newly inadequately trained new personnel who eventually left
Company has lots of opportunity to expand and be successful but either needs the current management to have more communication on longterm and short term goals with staff or obtain new management. One of Synarc's largest con's is drastically changing direction in business management. New management always cycled in with new ideas and trying to flip a whole company in a different direction constantly is probably their biggest financial waste. Money had to be made back for failed branches of expansion. Unfortunately this typically means the employees take the financial burden.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees well enough so they will want to stay. It cost more to keep on training and cycling through new inexperienced staff rather than maintain a well bodied one. Happy employees are more productive. More productive employees are more profitable.
