I worked at Systemax

Pros

Low expectations, easy to get entry level experience.

Cons

Little communication and support from management, VERY unprofessional. You could work here for many years and be fired for no reason (or even a goodbye from old co-workers). No regard for work-life balance, salaried employees expected to work 50ish hours. Most every employee is viewed as a commodity.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The organization is so infected with unprofessionalism and selfishness that I can't think of any honest suggestions to fix the problems within it.

    Pros

Some of the benefits are decent, medical and 401K

    Cons

If you aren't one of the top executives at this company better look for another opportunity because you will not be appreciated or rewarded for your work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lie to your employees and treat them better.

I have been working at Systemax full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some amazingly talented people (or there were before they outsourced to Hungary and India), I have met and worked with a diverse and friendly bunch of very talented people during my time with Systemax.

    Cons

Some amazingly incompetent or maybe just stubborn management that will follow through with a plan even when its clear to everyone around them and in some cases even themselves that its just a bad idea.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees on the ground, learn from past mistakes don't keep repeating them, be willing to change your mind on a decision if its not working out. it does not necessarily show bad leadership if you recognise a plan is not working and change it rather than doggedly following it to its often very bitter conclusion.
