Pros

If you're a self-driven individual, who doesn't need someone breathing down your neck, and can complete assignments without guidance, you will do well. The position is flexible enough to allow you to finish your job in the best way possible, with efficiency and pride. There are limitations and guidance documents that will prevent you from going too far outside of your job, or inadvertently violating a regulation or labor law, for both your protection and theirs.

Cons

If you are a lazy slacker that can show up to work, each donuts or breakfast tacos all day while surfing the internet or watching TV, and not feel guilty that you're getting paid to do absolutely nothing productive, then this place is perfect for you. No one check up on you, and if you can make up some excuse as to why you busted a timeline, no one cares. Heck.... take a 4 hour lunch and your boss probably won't notice! Just as long as they see you before 9am, and you're still there around 3pm, you can effectively skate through and know that it doesn't matter.

Advice to Management

Make people more accountable. Have the balls to fire people that aren't pulling their portion of the workload.

    Pros

You can see the work having a very positive impact on the country and on the world. Although the government is in charge, you really have ownership of your program or your department because the government people get reassigned so frequently while the government wants you to stay in place.

    Cons

The government wants you to stay in place. TASCs business plans seem to reflect that they can eventually get new people to do that same jobs as older people who are paid more. Let a highly paid old fart retire and get someone twenty years younger do the job for 20% less means that the hedge funds who own the company get 20% more profit by filling that same seat.

    Advice to Management

At some point, your corporate strategy of lowball salaries to win Lowest Price Technically Acceptable source selections will hopefully bite you. At this point, you are doing nothing to inspire employee loyalty and you will have nobody to pimp out.
