I worked at TD Auto Finance full-time

    Pros

The greatest thing about working at TD Auto Finance is the benefits. The benefits package presented is good and has several tax free or pre-tax accounts to take advantage of such as 401k, transportation savings, HSA and such. Also, the co-workers you will meet will be top notch in that they will understand the daily grind, and will be an invaluable resource in staying sane in the call center environment.

    Cons

Micro-management is horrible here, which is not a personal statement but a fact. There are constant call monitoring and coaching sessions which are done so frequently you don't have a chance to implement what you are being coached on which is part of the "100% coaching" environment. Critiques are like salt, if used in the right amount it creates something good, but when overused it creates a bad taste (or experience) in the instance.

The supervisors try everything within their power to not take supervisor calls when escalated even when all steps have been taken to ensure you have done all you can for a customer. This is the main reason for turnover and burnout especially if you are getting pounded on a call and the customer has specifically asked to speak with someone higher.

Management, even lower management can be extremely cliquish to the point that it creates a "its who you know, not what you know environment". But, in all fairness i believe that most companies are becoming like this, and not just TD Auto Finance.

The environment can be very stressful especially for collections, since you interact with so many kinds of people and hear all kinds of issues. The base pay plus incentive compensation you get is DEFINITELY not enough to live on. Getting a relevant bonus $100.00 or above is very challenging to say the least.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Remove 100% coaching. It doesn't work and frustrates the employee to the point that if they are working in collections and getting coached so much it causes un-due stress and high turnover that is talked about so much
    2. Implement a serious management training program that teaches mentor-ship and coaching when needed. Serious micro-management issues also are leading to high turnover in certain phone based departments.
    3. Pay more for phone based positions: We are the front lines and take the constant hits, get cursed at, and threatened. The ICP (incentive) plan in place currently is a joke. Pay that is higher would insure that taking the heat isn't all for nothing.
    4. Stop changing policies so much: It creates frustration and confusion for the customer and the employee at the same time.

I worked at TD Auto Finance

    Pros

Lenient with time off, management is very understanding. Don't have to be afraid of losing your job for making a mistake - they are very patient.

    Cons

Sometimes it can be unprofessional, with coworkers all drinking together and becoming more "friends" than "colleagues".
