I have been working at TD Bank

Pros

Having worked at other financial institutions, I find TD has the best work-place culture which is impressive considering it's size. People are treated with respect. HR is real there. Opportunities for advancement are plenty. Most are not over-worked as the right amount of people are hired to get things done.

Cons

A little bit cliquey. Many promotions are based on who you know rather than what you do which isn't a good thing. Knowledge level becomes limited to few key individuals as a result. A little concerned with the impending departure of Ed Clark and how corporate culture might change after he retires and new mgmt takes hold.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote based on knowledge + management skills and not just on politics alone. Doing otherwise will slowly erode the company.

I have been working at TD Bank

    Pros

    Extended hours availability
    Various locations to work at
    Sales Goal well communicated
    TD Bank Pride Hyped
    No Dull Moment

    Cons

When training they jam pack more than necessary information into you. Expectations after training are unrealistic. They hype they care about employee too much but when you show a concern they quickly dismiss it and give you a "suck it up nothing is going to change" sugar coated talk. Getting what you need to start as a new hire is a long process. New ideas and thoughts are frowned upon by management. Good luck getting your 30min break even if working ten hour shift. Alot of mistakes with payroll and no notice if your schedule is changed. Just a "sorry" and no empathy how they're mistakes with payroll and no notice shift changes effect your own life and diminish your work effectiveness. They care more about customers and sales than the employee - No Balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

New Hires are coming into a very competitive environment, they need time to adjust, and long hour days for them is not convenient or very smart. Small mistakes like payroll and no notice schedule changes effect their lives tremendously. When expected to work long hour days it diminishes effectiveness at work. If employees are working more than 6 hours without break they are working on empty stomach losing focus and concentration.
