I have been working at TD Canada Trust

Pros

One of the bet reasons to work at TD is the because of the great overall reputation that they have in the community, economic markets and financial institutions. They value diversity amongst staff and customers, and put their money behind it to a degree.

Cons

Because of the standards and opportunities at TD, team mangers seem to change quite often, meaning you have to prove yourself to a new manger again if you want to achieve your career goals.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is really challenging to work with mangers who you are not sure you can trust. Transparency is key if you will be leading people. These are other people's lives and careers which have been entrusted to you. Yes there are some ups and downs of being a manger, however with great power comes great responsibility!

I have been working at TD Canada Trust

    Pros

Overall it was a good stepping stone but not a long term career path.

Good at vacation and time off (exception being RRSP season)

    Cons

There is absolutely NO room for advancement unless you are in Toronto and even then it was hard to do unless you are apart of the "group".

No additional education provided only that what was relevant to the job - CSC, IFIC, PFPC.

Again its a stepping stone so get in and get out with some experience. Look for a corporation that has multiple divisions vs straight retail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest with people. This is a money grubbing machine that does little for the employees. Ed has a fat salary and makes the retail team work weekends? The separation of management to line staff is large and TD likes it that way.

    Pros

    - Love to help people
    - Love to work in a large company
    - Like the opportunities for advancement

    Cons

    - Depending on area of work, can be very repetitive
    - No recognition for exceeding sales targets
    - Very level oriented, takes much longer to move up when you started low even if you are completely qualified

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Create a better graduate retention program, suitable graduates often leave because of the difficulty of finding something that works for them after graduation
