The harder you work the more they expect and they never promote insiders

    Pros

Benefits, Bonuses, very easy to work with you when you need time off for family or personal needs. Vacation time after you have been there 10 years.

    Cons

People would lie about your attendance stating that you weren't coming in on time or were leaving early. I was also told that when I asked for a promtion that our department didn't promote from within their own department. Not enough people to do the work, therefore too many people are overloaded and have to work over time. They also give very low pay raises.

    Advice to Management

Believe in your people more and give more to the people that make your job easier. Give better pay raises especially to the people that work hard and you know who they are because they do make your job easier. If you allow someone to work from home and they are getting the job done, and they get more done at home than they can at the office then don't take that away from them.

Oldtimers won't change--need more new blood

    Pros

The new people really get what needs to change and are trying their best despite all the people who have been there 15+ years and want to do everything the same way. There are a lot of changes and if you are creative, ambitious and motivated there are many challenges to take on. The products are very interesting and need lots of work. Great for an engineer with guts.

    Cons

Management is frustrated with a bunch of people who are trying to keep the company stuck in the past. There are a lot of new processes and things that need to change and the oldtimers complain, complain, complain. They make sweeping generalizations about one or two really tough managers (see other comments here) that are trying to make the company grow. If you work here, expect to work with some really great new employees and some really stubborn oldtimers. When they finally turn the corner, this company will rock.

    Advice to Management

Focus on perfecting one major change at a time. Retrain the people who are not going along with the changes and see if they will improve -- otherwise they should go.
