    I worked at TGS-NOPEC

    Pros

Flexibility, calm work environment, steady flow of work, steady paycheck

    Cons

Depressing boredom at times, robots for coworkers, very little recognition for your efforts

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relax, the oil data will be there. Feel free to walk around and talk to your employees without hovering or bombarding them with questions. Stop being so damn robotic. Laugh a little.

Also, is it impossible to provide any type of benefits for PT employees? I know Verizon Wireless offers profit-sharing for PT employees.

I have been working at TGS-NOPEC

    Pros

They allow some flexibility with time as long as deadlines are met,
good computing resources and responsive IT. There are no formal training, but there are a lot of information available for self-education. Project's reports and presentations are in common domain.

    Cons

Projects are going through many departments, that means every department has a rather narrow specialization. No rotation, so it's difficult to get a wide experience. Work load is intermittent, some days I'm idle, some days I'm overwhelmed. Not much training given. Sometimes it feels like the management want you to be humble and invisible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider rotation. Give more training and advancement opportunities.
