FOR A CONTRACTOR, THE WORST PLACE EVER TO WORK!

I have been working at TIAA-CREF as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

There is a ton of work to be done. They need all the help they can get. The contract rate was favorable.

    Cons

    Where should I start....

The building is horrible compared to the main campus. It's 2012 and you cannot pick up a cell phone reception. It's over crowded, so you are basically sharing a cube space designed for 1 person; you have cube mate.

No one listens. You can offer a thousand suggestions and you will be ignored a thousand times. It is a lot of glory hounds. Everyone wants credit, even for the work "YOU" create.

As a contractor, you are treated like an outcast. You are not included in much of nothing. They don't even give you an orientation to show you were the cafeteria is on the main campus. They give you a computer and pretty much leave you on your own.

No interaction with management whatsoever. No "Hello, good morning" or anything like that. Probably have met with the manager a total of 3 times.

The culture is absolutely horrible. Everything is very disorganized and no teamwork. The job description was very vague. You asked about specific job duties in the interview only to end up doing something completely different.

This is one place I would not recommend for a contractor, especially in operations.
