I worked at TIAA-CREF full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Retirement Plan benefits, paid time off, ability to work remotely

Cons

-Internal career path for mid-level managers and directors is non-existent. They hire from the outside for positions higher than director (notoriously from Fidelity).
- Sr. leaders are out of touch with what really happens in the rank and file employees.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior leadership is intimidating and due to fear factor employees will not say what is on their mind. Also increase career pathing for managerial and director level employees. If that position isn't filled from outside first it takes someone leaving the company for a person to get promoted.

    Pros

    Mission driven organization with strong focus on putting the interests of clients first and foremost to help them reach financial well-being.

    Cons

    Somewhat smaller in number of employees and structural complexity as compared to other large financial services companies, therefore the number of opportunities for vertical movement may be less than others.
