I have been working at TIAA-CREF full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

- coworkers
- benefits
- don't have to take job home with you

Cons

- top management does not care about front line workers
- horrible bonus structure
- low pay
- slow systems
- back office is terrible
- company politics like any other big company

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company has changed for the worse over the last 3 years. Director in charge is turning the call center into other companies she has worked with, not a good thing. Change bonus structure and reward hard work

    Pros

Strong company that navigates through financial ups and downs with hardly a blip. Good benefits and work environment.

    Cons

Reactive management, way too much middle management and very political.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How can you have middle managers who have no one reporting to them?

    I worked at TIAA-CREF full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

People generally don't work extremely long hours. The company actually tries to do the right thing for its customers who are employees of higher education.

    Cons

The culture is not as collegial as it once was. A series of restructurings and layoffs has taken a toll on employee morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to encourage more risk taking among employees and transparency by management.
