I have been working at TIBCO Software full-time for less than a year

Pros

The money is decent. Many of the people are brilliant and dedicated.

Cons

The brilliant people are working stupidly long hours on triage and bandaids and fixes while the core functionality is not improved upon. Strong tendency to over-promise and under-deliver to clients. Too many new sales with too many customizations for the existing staff to handle with any quality.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The solution is not to hire more support staff, but to fix the core product. This company was a startup and was purchased by TIBCO and is expected to grow to support huge major new clients with many millions of customers. The platform can't handle it.

    I have been working at TIBCO Software for more than 10 years

    Pros

    TIBCO itself is a fun place to work. Many good people throughout. Outside of IT, I have seen people start at the bottom and reach Director level. Several organizations run well.

    Cons

    IT Operations is not run very efficiently. One hands off director with many reports. Lack of leadership. You will go nowhere by joining this group. Career progress is nil.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Shake up the ITOPs department. Get someone with a real vision. Make ITOPs Global so that employees can be helped 24x7 instead of regionally. Invest some money into real solutions instead of overlapping and competing technologies.

    - stable
    - healthy business
    - good people in general
    - good vision
    - high potential

    Cons

    - lack of professional and career development opportunities
    - lot of politics which limits growth of the company
    - inter group dynamics are aweful

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest in your people, and treat them as a valued assest. Identify and give opportuinties for development to new talent.
