Pros

Very good work environment. Highly competitive compensation. Very solid company and great people.

Not a sexy, high profile consumer business, but one that adds very high value to its customers. Can seem chaotic at times.

At TIBCO, it's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know

I worked at TIBCO Software full-time

    Pros

The products have a good reputation and the CEO, Vivek, has made sure the company's image is very polished, for example, the expensive looking visitors hall, million dollar annual Christmas shindig (where Vivek brings his latest Trophy Date).

    Cons

There is rampant incompetence at TIBCO because people don't succeed or fail based on how smart or talented they are, but how connected they are. Especially in Marketing, people who produce some of the lowest quality work product imaginable are not only not laid off, but actually promoted, while those who produce high quality work are dismissed or laid off if they are not connected to the "right" people. For instance, it's very, very helpful to have a family member or close friend in HR or management. I believe this is the reason TIBCO is never as successful as it wants to be and will never be in the same league as Oracle.

There are huge ego issues at TIBCO. When you work there, they are constantly drilling into you (practically spamming your work inbox with emails regarding Vivek's latest media appearances, various other media pieces) how successful they are, how special TIBCO is and how much better they are than their competitors, such as Oracle. You're regularly reminded of Vivek's latest media related diss of Oracle and its CEO When you leave TIBCO, you see that most people have never even heard of the company and that TIBCO is simply a "legend in their own mind."

People are laid off indiscriminately and verbally abused, without regard to their talent or personal circumstances, but because of the rampant politics and egos at the company. Some joke that Vivek lays people off when he wants to buy another car to add to his already large collection of luxury automobiles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try focusing a little less on how you appear to the world and more on running a less dysfunctional company.

I have been working at TIBCO Software full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-In some areas Tibco uses very latest tools and technologies.
-HR in pune India nether hinders nor helps.
    -Flexible work timings
-frequent B1 visits to Paloalto office
-Good for QA engineers to join pune office.
    -Good pay

    Cons

-Fresher or experienced hires -No training provided on product or technology in engineering department.
-Pune center is mainly a QA hub .The Dev teams dont own much areas in the product and are meant for carrying out average and below average tasks sent from Paloalto.
-Not many team outings and mostly budget gets spent on un-necessary US visits.
-Only a few smart engineers stayed in the company.
-No initiatives like contests , hackathons that you typically expect in a product development company.
-very very hard to move between dev teams.
-product release cycles are not uniform. No work or full work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Please concentrate on Indian engineering department.Stop making one product manager lead other products in which he is not interested.Get some one to lead engineering not just his or her product team.
